Blue is one of my very favourite colours, its just such a soothing and calming hue! From the palest pastels to the brightest azure and the deepest inky navy, the spectrum is just stunning. The boards below show ways to incorporate this colour story into your day – using inky watercolour florals and the rather incredible sunography paper. Plus a few DIY craft projects thrown in for good measure! The ideas are perfect as an alternative autumn wedding theme using blue and white leaf shapes instead of the usual rust and yellow! Or of course, it works perfectly for a summer wedding by the sea…
The leaf print design (below right) was created using the amazing sunography paper (a special light sensitive paper). I did some print designs a little while back using this technique and its such good fun. In a nutshell you place any object or transparency onto the sunography paper and then expose it to bright sunlight. Then simply rinse the paper in water to reveal your rich inky blue print! Tip – make sure you expose to bright full sunlight for the best effect and vary the amount of time you expose the paper to ensure you get different levels of colour intensity. You can buy the paper from most craft/ art shops or online here.
There are endless ways to use the paper – as place settings, wedding stationery, table plans and table runners! There is even a gorgeous cake above using the technique! If you are thinking of giving it a go then take a look here at this great tutorial on Once Wed. You could even take a pack on your honeymoon, capturing your very own memories whilst your there and then displaying them in frames at home when you return.
You could incorporate the theme more subtly by using cut-out leaves as stencils through which to sprinkle icing sugar on your desserts!
The hand-painted pebbles/ paperweights above would make such lovely favours and are totally in-keeping with the theme.
